In the 5th minute, Beale McPaul ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gehan McLian was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 16th minute Beale McPaul shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gehan McLian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Piers Dillon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gehan McLian was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Gehan McLian stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Renny McPaul's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. In the 28th minute, Braoin Grant got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Carranty's Renny McPaul in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Abbeyleix Utd's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beale McPaul in the 36th minute of play forced Abbeyleix Utd's goalkeeper Gehan McLian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the game, Carranty's Piers Dillon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gehan McLian made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 44 minutes into the game, Renny McPaul cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Gehan McLian was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Beale McPaul to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Carranty booed when Abbeyleix Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herygh Dimson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Renny McPaul fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gehan McLian having to interfere. In the 59thth minute of the game Beale McPaul who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Abbeyleix Utd's Gehan McLian was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Renny McPaul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Gehan McLian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Renny McPaul's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 66thth minute, Gehan McLian skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Renny McPaul could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Gehan McLian made a huge save. Gehan McLian came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Carranty's Renny McPaul. But to his dismay, Renny McPaul quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beale McPaul in the 77th minute of play forced Abbeyleix Utd's goalkeeper Gehan McLian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Carranty booed when Abbeyleix Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brain McAlphie didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 87 minutes, Blathmac Deans mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Abbeyleix Utd and the Carranty players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 87 played minutes Abbeyleix Utd got a freekick which was hit by Blathmac Deans. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beale McPaul in the 89th minute of play forced Abbeyleix Utd's goalkeeper Gehan McLian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carranty's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
