In the 3rdth minute of the game Blathmac Deans who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cregganbaun's Torrian Dunne was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Blathmac Deans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Torrian Dunne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Cregganbaun defense, Blathmac Deans kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Torrian Dunne. The Cregganbaun fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Torrian Dunne should have stopped the shot. Brain McAlphie scored 0-2 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Torrian Dunne, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Blathmac Deans struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Torrian Dunne didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Abbeyleix Utd. Torrian Dunne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arthur Lester in the 26th minute of the match. After 26 played minutes Cregganbaun got a freekick which was hit by Ryleigh Morrison. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Troy Mulvihill took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Gehan McLian to make any attempt to save it. Arthur Lester recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 36th minute, Blathmac Deans ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Torrian Dunne was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. When Hickey Silke came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Cregganbaun fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hickey Silke couldn't finish the play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Blathmac Deans to strike the kick off in the second half. Gehan McLian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hickey Silke, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Troy Mulvihill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arthur Lesters short, quick shot in the 70thth minute got Torrian Dunne to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 72nd minute, Troy Mulvihill got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hickey Silke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gehan McLian having to interfere. After 91 minutes, Rourke Costello mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Abbeyleix Utd and the Cregganbaun players grew even worse after the yellow card.
