After a rather tough play, Athnaleenta's Blavock McMichel got a free kick in the 28th minute. Roordan Sheridan charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roordan Sheridan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 33 played minutes Athnaleenta got a freekick which was hit by Roordan Sheridan. Shannon Ferguson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Braoin Beckett, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Shannon Ferguson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartel Prunty, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Braoin Beckett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shannon Ferguson having to interfere. Shannon Ferguson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bartel Prunty's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Shannon Ferguson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bartel Prunty in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 44th minute, Braoin Beckett made a precise shot to the right of Shannon Ferguson. Athnaleenta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After the first half Lynnbury were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Roordan Sheridan made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Donn Dunne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lynnbury's Teris Rogers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bercan Byrne in the 53rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roordan Sheridan in the 63rd minute of play forced Lynnbury's goalkeeper Teris Rogers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 65th minute by Bartel Prunty got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Bartel Prunty took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Shannon Ferguson. Shannon Ferguson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Shannon Ferguson made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Bartel Prunty sent off a good shot on target. When Braoin Beckett fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lynnbury's protests and gave Braoin Beckett a yellow card for diving instead. Braoin Beckett hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Teris Rogers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bercan Byrne in the 75th minute of the match. Bartel Prunty could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Shannon Ferguson made a huge save. Bartel Pruntys short, quick shot in the 79thth minute got Shannon Ferguson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lynnbury's Teris Rogers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roordan Sheridan in the 81st minute of play. Lynnbury's Bartel Prunty got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
