Knockrath AFC's Bradagain Murphy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blathmac Deans in the 24th minute of play. Turlough Deery got his second yellow card in the match during the 37th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 37th minute, Turlough Deery hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 39 played minutes, Abbeyleix Utd's Rourke Costello shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bradagain Murphy came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Abbeyleix Utd reached it. Reilley Ghee fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gehan McLian having to interfere. Blathmac Deans struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Bradagain Murphy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Abbeyleix Utd.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Blathmac Deans to strike the kick off in the second half. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Reilley Ghee came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Knockrath AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reilley Ghee couldn't finish the play. In the 72ndth minute of the game Reilley Ghee who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Abbeyleix Utd's Gehan McLian was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bradagain Murphy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blathmac Deans in the 83rd minute of play. Bradagain Murphy was a little too slow when Blathmac Deans got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 0-1. Gehan McLian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reilley Ghee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Beanon Colwell struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Gehan McLian didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Knockrath AFC. The Abbeyleix Utd players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
