If Beale McPaul had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Renny McPaul came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Carranty fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Renny McPaul couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Beale McPaul in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Torrian Dunne saved Cregganbaun from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Cregganbaun's Keely Doherty got a free kick in the 15th minute. Beale McPaul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Torrian Dunne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Renny McPaul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Beale McPaul in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Piers Dillon in the 30th minute of play forced Cregganbaun's goalkeeper Torrian Dunne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Cregganbaun getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Hickey Silke hit a great ball. Torrian Dunne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Piers Dillon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute, Renny McPaul got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Beale McPaul managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carranty's supporters rose to their feet, but Beale McPaul was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Torrian Dunne breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 44 played minutes Carranty got a freekick which was hit by Beale McPaul. Torrian Dunne came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Carranty's Renny McPaul. But to his dismay, Renny McPaul quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Beale McPaul was the one to do the kick off. Keely Doherty's late challenge caught a Carranty's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Keely Doherty helped the player get up and apologised. Keely Doherty kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Beale McPaul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Torrian Dunne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Renny McPaul got free with Torrian Dunne in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Torrian Dunne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Beale McPaul in the 97th minute of the match. Carranty's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
