Clifferna Utd's Donavan O'Down played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blathmac Deans in the 4th minute of play. In the 4th minute, Kevion Dalton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Clifferna Utd's Dermod Murphy in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Abbeyleix Utd's goalie prevented a goal. Geary Gallagher kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Donavan O'Down took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blathmac Deans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Dermod Murphy sped through Abbeyleix Utd's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gehan McLian. Kevion Dalton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Abbeyleix Utd's Arthur Lester got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gehan McLian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Riddoc Savic, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Donavan O'Down made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arthur Lester in the 34th minute. With a little luck, Clifferna Utd's Donavan O'Down got control of the ball when Arthur Lester tried to sneak it across the goal line. Blathmac Deans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arthur Lester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donavan O'Down having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Arthur Lester managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abbeyleix Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Arthur Lester was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donavan O'Down breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Clifferna Utd were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Blathmac Deans to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Clifferna Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Arthur Lester came free, but Donavan O'Down reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Blathmac Deans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Donavan O'Down tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 59 played minutes Clifferna Utd got a freekick which was hit by Oliver O'Neill. Arthur Lester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donavan O'Down having to interfere. Donavan O'Down showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Blathmac Deans in the 64th minute of the match. When Brain McAlphie fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Abbeyleix Utd's protests and gave Brain McAlphie a yellow card for diving instead. Gehan McLian came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Clifferna Utd's Riddoc Savic. But to his dismay, Riddoc Savic quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When Kevion Dalton fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clifferna Utd's protests and gave Kevion Dalton a yellow card for diving instead. Kevion Dalton hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. If Arthur Lester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phillip McPhil charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Phillip McPhil the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Blathmac Deans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arthur Lester recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Blathmac Deans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donavan O'Down having to interfere. Arthur Lester received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Donavan O'Down tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 95th minute Dermod Murphy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gehan McLian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Although Abbeyleix Utd had been in control for most of the match, Clifferna Utd still came away with the win.
