The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kilcotton's Bran Hutton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bryan McDecland in the 11th minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, Teigue Perth notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Kilcotton's Bran Hutton. Bran Hutton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Bryan McDecland struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Bran Hutton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grangegeeth AFC. Bran Hutton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teigue Perth in the 19th minute of play. The supporters of Grangegeeth AFC booed when Kilcotton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justin Martyn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bran Hutton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bryan McDecland in the 26th minute of the match. Bran Hutton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bryan McDecland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th match minute, Kilcotton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Beltany Coyle to maneuver through the defense. In the 30th minute of the match Berrigan McWilliam shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bran Hutton showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Grangegeeth AFC booed when Kilcotton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teagan Holt didn't get a good kick on the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Kilcotton's goal looked a bit too open when Bryan McDecland came free, but Bran Hutton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Barney Lavine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barney Lavine in the 40th minute of play forced Grangegeeth AFC's goalkeeper Brayden Delaney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kilcotton's Barney Lavine got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 44th minute, Bannon McMichel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Barney Lavine made a kick off. Brayden Delaney made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barney Lavine in the 63rd minute of play. The supporters of Grangegeeth AFC booed when Kilcotton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bannon McMichel didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Berrigan McWilliam in the 66th minute really tested Bran Hutton's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Bran Hutton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Berrigan McWilliam, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Through an outstanding action, after 92 minutes, Bran Hutton successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Justin Martyn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brayden Delaney having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Grangegeeth AFC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
