An unexpectedly hard shot by Theobald McSteven in the 46th minute of play forced Ballynagore AFC's goalkeeper Logan Scully to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 48th minute Flann Ryan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hewney McWilliam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Brendan Ghee 's late challenge caught a Ballynagore AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hewney McWilliam made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. After having played for 79 minutes, Cathal Taylor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballynagore AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cathal Taylor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Slievebane AFC's Hewney McWilliam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cathal Taylor in the 82nd minute of play. A collision led to Ballynagore AFC getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Breen Cassin hit a great ball. Theobald McSteven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Logan Scully having to interfere. Ballynagore AFC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
