Spectators: 7990 (Terracing: 5994, Seating: 1837, VIP seats: 159) Quirk Branson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brann Ferguson having to interfere. In the 9th minute of the match Don McNamara shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Batt McGlynn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 17 played minutes Fethard got a freekick which was hit by Brendan Prunty. When Tops's Quirk Branson in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fethard's goalie prevented a goal. Brendan Prunty kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. In the 26th minute Oliver McStephen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Batt McGlynn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Quirk Branson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fethard's Brann Ferguson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darrin Perth in the 30th minute of play. Quirk Branson struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Brann Ferguson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tops. Quirk Branson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brann Ferguson having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Quirk Branson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Blathmac Caffrey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Batt McGlynn having to interfere.

If Blathmac Caffrey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the match, Tops's Quirk Branson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brann Ferguson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fethard's Oliver McStephen got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tops's goalkeeper Batt McGlynn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 71st minute Oliver McStephen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Batt McGlynn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 74 minutes into the match, Tops's goal looked a bit too open when Blathmac Caffrey came free, but Batt McGlynn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Banan McCollion fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tops's protests and gave Banan McCollion a yellow card for diving instead. After 80 played minutes Tops got a freekick which was hit by Banan McCollion. Fethard's Blathmac Caffrey got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Tops's Quirk Branson dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. When the match was over Tops could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Fethard throughout the match.
