Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Oliver McStephen got the match started through his kick off. The supporters of Washington booed when Fethard was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Blathmac Caffrey didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Washington's Conan Barrett got a free kick in the 5th minute. A throw-in in the 8th minute of the game was made by Gearóid Duggan with Peter McIan as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Shamus McGlynn scored 1-0 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brann Ferguson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 14 minutes into the match, Brendan Prunty notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Washington's Theodore McNamara. Theodore McNamara was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Washington's Theodore McNamara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blathmac Caffrey in the 22nd minute of play. A hard shot 24 in the game by Ennis Cronin from a close distance when the talented Brann Ferguson managed to make a qualified save. Fethard's players were relieved. In the 26th match minute, Fethard was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brannon McTom to maneuver through the defense. Ennis Cronin struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Brann Ferguson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Washington. Ennis Cronin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Brann Ferguson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 40 played minutes Washington got a freekick which was hit by Conor McPaul. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blathmac Caffrey in the 46th minute of play forced Washington's goalkeeper Theodore McNamara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Shamus McGlynn might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brann Ferguson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Shamus McGlynn ran back to his position shaking his head. After 58 played minutes Fethard got a freekick which was hit by Peter McIan. In the 61st minute Washington were awarded a corner. Conan Barrett went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Washington's Conan Barrett to fire away a dangerous shot which Brann Ferguson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 63 minutes into the match, Fethard's goal looked a bit too open when Shamus McGlynn came free, but Brann Ferguson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fethard's Blathmac Caffrey got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Brann Ferguson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shamus McGlynn, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Washington's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Peter McIan 74 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-2. Shamus McGlynn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Brann Ferguson came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Washington's Ennis Cronin. But to his dismay, Ennis Cronin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. After having played for 83 minutes, Ennis Cronin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Washington's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ennis Cronin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Washington booed when Fethard was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brannon McTom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brann Ferguson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ennis Cronin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Shamus McGlynn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Brann Ferguson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Washington were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
