The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Beollan Gillmour might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Colm Quinnless. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Beollan Gillmour ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Salia Sparta Club's Beagan Horgan got a free kick in the 5th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lawrence Gollogley in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Colm Quinnless prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Salia Sparta Club's Colm Quinnless played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blathmac McNamara in the 10th minute of play. Colm Quinnless made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bartel McJames in the 11th minute. When Bohs's Blathmac McNamara in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Salia Sparta Club's goalie prevented a goal. Alex Keegan hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Bren Branson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kerrigan McWilliam having to interfere. After 19 minutes of play, Salia Sparta Club's Heron Gallagher made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kerrigan McWilliam was left in no man's land by his defense there! Colm Quinnless made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Beollan Gillmour in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bren Branson in the 27th minute of play forced Bohs's goalkeeper Kerrigan McWilliam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Salia Sparta Club's Colm Quinnless got control of the ball when Lawrence Gollogley tried to sneak it across the goal line. Beollan Gillmour fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Colm Quinnless having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Salia Sparta Club's zone, Blathmac Holt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Colm Quinnless came out of the goal and Blathmac Holt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Colm Quinnless made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blathmac McNamara in the 34th minute of play. Blathmac Holt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Colm Quinnless read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Bartel McJames received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Colm Quinnless tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Salia Sparta Club's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Blathmac McNamara 38 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Lawrence Gollogley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Blathmac Holt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Colm Quinnless tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Lawrence Gollogley came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Bohs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lawrence Gollogley couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bren Branson made a kick off. When Lawrence Gollogley fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bohs's protests and gave Lawrence Gollogley a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Salia Sparta Club booed when Bohs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lawrence Gollogley didn't get a good kick on the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Blathmac McNamara notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Salia Sparta Club's Colm Quinnless. Colm Quinnless was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 66th minute Bartel McJames shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Colm Quinnless saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Colm Quinnless showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blathmac McNamara, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Colm Quinnless showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bartel McJames in the 72nd minute of the match. Beagan Horgan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Kerrigan McWilliam made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Bartel McJames's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Colm Quinnless was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bartel McJames in the 80th minute of play forced Salia Sparta Club's goalkeeper Colm Quinnless to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
