But to his dismay, Giles Coyle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When Cherrywood Celtic FC's Giles Coyle in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Maurs's goalie prevented a goal. Giles Coyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Maurs's Lorcan McTom got a free kick in the 27th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Maurs's zone, Donn Rutherford stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emmet McWill came out of the goal and Donn Rutherford tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cherrywood Celtic FC's goalkeeper Barram McIan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Blavock McSteven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emmet McWill having to interfere. Barram McIan made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Harvey Morrison sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Maurs booed when Cherrywood Celtic FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giles Coyle didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Donn Rutherford came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Cherrywood Celtic FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donn Rutherford couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Giles Coyle was the one to do the kick off. Emmet McWill made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donn Rutherford in the 53rd minute. Barram McIan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harvey Morrison, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Maurs's Emmet McWill played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giles Coyle in the 55th minute of play. Cherrywood Celtic FC's Donn Rutherford got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Barram McIan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brazil McOliver, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Donn Rutherford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Emmet McWill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Donn Rutherford sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cherrywood Celtic FC's Barram McIan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harvey Morrison in the 76th minute of play. After 77 played minutes Cherrywood Celtic FC got a freekick which was hit by Blavock McSteven. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brazil McOliver in the 80th minute of play forced Cherrywood Celtic FC's goalkeeper Barram McIan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Cherrywood Celtic FC's Donn Rutherford sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emmet McWill narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Giles Coyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cherrywood Celtic FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
