After 13 played minutes Carrigaline Utd got a freekick which was hit by Rowley Grant. Mack McMichel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomás McPeter in the 15th minute of play. After 18 minutes, Shey Ryan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carrigaline Utd and the FC BlackDragon players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 24th minute, Brion Callaghan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tomás McPeter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mack McMichel having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Carrigaline Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Tevis Todd came free, but Mack McMichel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tomás McPeter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Brion Callaghan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mack McMichel having to interfere. In the 36th match minute, Carrigaline Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pierson Prunty to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rowley Grant during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Brion Callaghan came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the FC BlackDragon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brion Callaghan couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
