Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Bairrionn McVictor kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the match, Gowlin's goal looked a bit too open when Leonard Grant came free, but Donahue Cassin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brasil McTommy received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tomás Brennan came out and tried to block the shot, but Brasil McTommy slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 6th minute. In the 9th minute, Pearson Doyle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 11 minutes, Leonard Grant mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Athabatteen FC and the Gowlin players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Athabatteen FC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Leonard Grant hit a great ball. In the 13th minute Bairrionn McVictor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomás Brennan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bairrionn McVictor in the 20th minute of play forced Athabatteen FC's goalkeeper Tomás Brennan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Gowlin's Bairrionn McVictor got a free kick in the 21st minute. Donavon Rutherford struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Donahue Cassin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Athabatteen FC. After a defensive mix-up in Gowlin's zone, Leonard Grant stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donahue Cassin came out of the goal and Leonard Grant tried to chip the ball over his head. Tomás Brennan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blanaid McJohn in the 36th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Athabatteen FC's Reamann Duggan got a free kick in the 36th minute. After having played for 38 minutes, Bairrionn McVictor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gowlin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bairrionn McVictor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Athabatteen FC's Tomás Brennan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bairrionn McVictor in the 40th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Gowlin's Tomás Brennan threw himself towards the right post 45 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Blanaid McJohn, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Barley McFrancise received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Tomás Brennan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Barley McFrancise might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tomás Brennan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Barley McFrancise ran back to his position shaking his head. Tomás Brennan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blanaid McJohn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leonard Grant got free with Donahue Cassin in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Donavon Rutherford fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donahue Cassin having to interfere. Fionntán McFrank recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 73 played minutes Athabatteen FC got a freekick which was hit by Fionntán McFrank. After a rather tough play, Gowlin's Brickeen McCollion got a free kick in the 77th minute. Biviti Costello hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fionntán McFrank got free with Donahue Cassin in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With 93 minutes on the clock, Bairrionn McPhil commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Athabatteen FC! Biviti Costello shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Tomás Brennan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barley McFrancise, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Gowlin walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
