In the 17th minute, Byrne John got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 18 minutes into the match, Boddibevve Hughes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Triain Scully, 1-1. Bradon McTommy hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute Aodh Delaney shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brady Hughes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Bivadas McCollion managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballybrood's supporters rose to their feet, but Bivadas McCollion was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brady Hughes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Boddibevve Hughes got free with Triain Scully in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Ballybrood getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Donald Rutherford hit a great ball. With a little luck, Ballybrood's Triain Scully got control of the ball when Boddibevve Hughes tried to sneak it across the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Portarlington Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Shannon McTom came free, but Brady Hughes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aron Jameson charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aron Jameson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 41 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Portarlington Juniors!

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Byrne John was the one to do the kick off. After 54 played minutes Portarlington Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Aron Jameson. 55 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Ballybrood's Bivadas McCollion fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Brady Hughes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shannon McTom in the 60th minute of the match. In the 62ndth minute of the game Boddibevve Hughes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ballybrood's Triain Scully was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 63rd minute, Tirloch Savic hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 69 minutes, Shannon McTom managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballybrood's supporters crossed their fingers, but Shannon McTom was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bearnard McStephen charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bearnard McStephen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience was convinced that Byrne John's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Triain Scully was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. Triain Scully took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Byrne John, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Boddibevve Hughes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 89th play minutes Boddibevve Hughes shot 2-2, a short shot which went by Triain Scully and just under the crossbar into goal. Byrne John fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Triain Scully having to interfere. Shannon McTom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ballybrood were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Portarlington Juniors to leave the ground with a draw.
