Teigue McIan stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ardán McPhil. 0-1. With a little luck, Portarlington Juniors's Brady Hughes got control of the ball when Alan McFrank tried to sneak it across the goal line. Brady Hughes came out and tried to block the shot, but Alan McFrank slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 44th minute. Alan McFrank fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brady Hughes having to interfere. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alan McFrank was the one to do the kick off. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
