Douglas Caffey's late challenge caught a Derryrush Utd's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Douglas Caffey helped the player get up and apologised. After recieving a nice pass, Derryrush Utd's Oliver McPhil tried to score from far away in the 6th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Bartley Jameson charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bartley Jameson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Derryrush Utd booed when Intoxicated was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bartley Jameson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Baird Coyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 13 minutes into the match, Intoxicated's goalkeeper Batt Dunne had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Brendann McIan. Piers Cronin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trevor Dunne in the 24th minute of the match. Baird Coyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Baird Coyle in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Batt Dunne prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Piers Cronin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trevor Dunne in the 32nd minute of play. Batt Dunne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baird Coyle in the 34th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trevor Dunne stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Derryrush Utd's goalkeeper Piers Cronin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Baird Coyle's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Batt Dunne was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Batt Dunne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brendann McIan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 68 minutes, Brendann McIan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Derryrush Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brendann McIan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Baird Coyle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Batt Dunne having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Baird Coyle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Derryrush Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Baird Coyle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Batt Dunne breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Derryrush Utd fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 75th minute. Penalty! Piers Cronin went to the wrong direction when Bradigan Benson was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 86th minute Baird Coyle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Batt Dunne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baird Coyle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Batt Dunne having to interfere. Batt Dunne stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Baird Coyle's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Shiel Silke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derryrush Utd's Baird Coyle got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Batt Dunne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baird Coyle, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. Although Derryrush Utd had been in control for most of the match, Intoxicated still came away with the win.
