Batt Dunne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Colm McWill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute Colm McWill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Batt Dunne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Trevor Dunne to strike the kick off in the second half. Trevor Dunne charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Colm McWill had several of the Intoxicated's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 57 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-2 score and a disappointed Batt Dunne as he didn't even see the shot coming. Batt Dunne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Colm McWill in the 64th minute of the match. Colm McWill showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. The audience was convinced that Colm McWill's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Batt Dunne was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. Herne Byrne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Batt Dunne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Conaghra left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Intoxicated.
