Piers Cronin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilbert Morrison in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 55th minute Gilbert Morrison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Piers Cronin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 85 played minutes, Durrus's Bran John shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Piers Cronin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Durrus reached it. When the match was over Derryrush Utd could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Durrus throughout the match.
