Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Suibhne Walker in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ultan Prunty prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ultan Prunty showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Blanaid McCready in the 14th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the game, Rathnure's Blanaid McCready nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ultan Prunty made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 0-2 became the score in the 19th minute when Blanaid McCready elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Suibhne Walker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ultan Prunty having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Geralt Ramsey sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Lurgan FC's Ultan Prunty didn't even have to move. 38 minutes into the match, Lurgan FC's goal looked a bit too open when Blanaid McCready came free, but Ultan Prunty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rathnure's Boru Perth proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Rathnure from getting a goal against them. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Harley McGlenn to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Boyne Rogers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 53rd minute of the match Geralt Ramsey sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ultan Prunty skillfully saved the ball. Quinn McBrand charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Quinn McBrand the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Quinn McBrand hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Suibhne Walker in the 55thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ultan Prunty, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Suibhne Walkers short, quick shot in the 58thth minute got Ultan Prunty to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Blanaid McCready blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ultan Prunty having to make a save. In the 72nd match minute, Lurgan FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boyne Rogers to maneuver through the defense. Harley McGlenn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Boru Perth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Donn Gillmour hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute of the match Geralt Ramsey shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ultan Prunty showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ultan Prunty made an important save on a dangerous shot by Suibhne Walker in the 82nd minute. If Blanaid McCready had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ultan Prunty made an important save on a dangerous shot by Suibhne Walker in the 92nd minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Rathnure had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
