The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerard Harkin got free with Gordan McTom in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Belvelly getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Baoithin Caffrey hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Gerard Harkin managed to get in a good position for a shot. forgotten Town's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerard Harkin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gordan McTom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 19 minutes into the match, Brann McWilliam dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gordan McTom, 1-0. Belvelly's Gordan McTom proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Belvelly from getting a goal against them. 23 minutes into the match, Belvelly's goalkeeper Gordan McTom had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gerard Harkin. If Gerard Harkin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Belvelly's Gordan McTom proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Belvelly from getting a goal against them. Baoithin Caffrey might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Boynton Harkin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Baoithin Caffrey ran back to his position shaking his head. Gerard Harkin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gordan McTom having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brann McWilliam was the one to do the kick off. Belvelly's Gordan McTom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brann McWilliam in the 54th minute of play. Brann McWilliam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Gordan McTom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gordan McTom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerard Harkin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of forgotten Town booed when Belvelly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baoithin Caffrey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gordan McTom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brann McWilliam, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Roordan Mullan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Boynton Harkin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
