Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Boyce Dalton started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After a rather tough play, Newtownbarry FC's Raymond Tierney got a free kick in the 3rd minute. The audience was convinced that Boyce Dalton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Booak McPeter was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Ballykean's zone, Boyce Dalton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Booak McPeter came out of the goal and Boyce Dalton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 13 minutes into the match, Ballykean's goalkeeper Booak McPeter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bairne Hughes. Raymond Keegan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Booak McPeter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Booak McPeter made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Bairne Hughes sent off a good shot on target. If Pearson Dempsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Boyce Dalton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Booak McPeter having to make a save. After some careless play in the Ballykean defense, Bairne Hughes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Booak McPeter. The Ballykean fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Booak McPeter should have stopped the shot. Bairne Hughes's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 26thth minute, Booak McPeter skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Barclay McTom hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Ballykean's Bray Deans got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 33rd minute, Cormac Beckett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 35 minutes into the match, Boyce Dalton notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Ballykean's Booak McPeter. Booak McPeter was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 38 minutes into the match, Newtownbarry FC's goal looked a bit too open when Earnán Deans came free, but Tierney McGlenn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Raymond Keegan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Booak McPeter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pearson Dempsey stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Cormac Beckett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tierney McGlenn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raymond Keegan hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Tierney McGlenn didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Ballykean's Pearson Dempsey shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-2 in the ordered_time% minute. 61 minutes into the game, Cormac Beckett was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ballykean's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newtownbarry FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Ballykean's Cormac Beckett got a free kick in the 61st minute. In the 64th minute, Bray Deans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 65th minute Bairne Hughes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Booak McPeter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 67th minute, Bray Deans got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bray Deans struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Tierney McGlenn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ballykean. Tierney McGlenn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cormac Beckett, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pearson Dempsey in the 74th minute of play forced Newtownbarry FC's goalkeeper Tierney McGlenn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tierney McGlenn made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Earnán Deans sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Pearson Dempsey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballykean's supporters rose to their feet, but Pearson Dempsey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tierney McGlenn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Booak McPeter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boyce Dalton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 85th minute there was a penalty for Newtownbarry FC. Raymond Tierney stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Booak McPeter. 3-2. 88 minutes into the game, Banon Hughes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ballykean's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newtownbarry FC the free kick. When Bairne Hughes came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Newtownbarry FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bairne Hughes couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute, Barclay McTom made a precise shot to the right of Booak McPeter. Ballykean's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Newtownbarry FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Ballykean for a fine match.
