After 12 minutes, Beary Tracy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Drumaville and the Dundalk FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Drumaville getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Beary Tracy hit a great ball. In the 19th minute Teigue McPeter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fintan Doherty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fintan Doherty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bailey Cooney, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Dundalk FC booed when Drumaville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kealan McNamara didn't get a good kick on the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Oliver Robinson to strike the kick off in the second half. Teigue McPeter might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fintan Doherty. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Teigue McPeter ran back to his position shaking his head. Dundalk FC's Fintan Doherty proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Dundalk FC from getting a goal against them. Bailey Cooney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fintan Doherty having to interfere. Breandan Cooney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beara Glen Crowe having to interfere. Dundalk FC's Curran McSteven got his second yellow card of the match in the 86th minute. The referee ordered Curran McSteven off the ground. Chants of Drumaville echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Dundalk FC had held the ball for most of the match.
