The supporters of Quinsborough Utd booed when Dundalk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Loughlin McLian didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Dundalk's zone, Austin Crowe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pauric Coyle came out of the goal and Austin Crowe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Dundalk's Barney Todd got a free kick in the 6th minute. Pauric Coyle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paudraig McPhilip's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. Finbar Holt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brakawn McNamee in the 19th minute of play. In the 21st minute, one of Dundalk:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Dundalk. The referee gave Quinsborough Utd a penalty, 22 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Austin Crowe, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Dundalk's Pauric Coyle. 1-1. 26 minutes into the match, Beolagh McFrank had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Finbar Holt. Quinsborough Utd's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Beolagh McFrank was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. 28 minutes into the match, Quinsborough Utd's goalkeeper Finbar Holt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Beolagh McFrank. Jeremiah McPhil kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brakawn McNamee in the 35th minute of play forced Quinsborough Utd's goalkeeper Finbar Holt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paudraig McPhilip blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pauric Coyle having to make a save. In the 39th minute Paudraig McPhilip shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pauric Coyle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute, Paudraig McPhilip ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pauric Coyle was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Paudraig McPhilip received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Pauric Coyle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Harley McTom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paudraig McPhilip stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pauric Coyle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paudraig McPhilip, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the match, Quinsborough Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Brakawn McNamee came free, but Finbar Holt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 64 played minutes, Quinsborough Utd's Austin Crowe shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pauric Coyle came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Quinsborough Utd reached it. In the 65th minute, Fionn Doherty hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 66th minute of the game. One of Quinsborough Utd:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Dundalk:s goal. The referee gave Dundalk a penalty, 67 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Boyle Willson, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Quinsborough Utd's Finbar Holt. 3-2. The audience was convinced that Brakawn McNamee's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Finbar Holt was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Quinsborough Utd's Finbar Holt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brakawn McNamee in the 72nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brakawn McNamee in the 74th minute of play forced Quinsborough Utd's goalkeeper Finbar Holt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th match minute, Quinsborough Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kyle McVictor to maneuver through the defense. Kyle McVictor charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The Dundalk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. 89 minutes into the game, Scott McGlenn was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dundalk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quinsborough Utd the free kick. Scott McGlenn kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. In the 96thth minute of the game Brakawn McNamee who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Quinsborough Utd's Finbar Holt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Quinsborough Utd's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
