Rownun Murphy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliver Robinson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dundalk FC's goalkeeper Fintan Doherty, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dermod McCready's late challenge caught a Dundalk FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dermod McCready helped the player get up and apologised. Dermod McCready hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The supporters of Dundalk FC booed when Coolmannan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donall Gallagher didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fintan Doherty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tierney McJon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fintan Doherty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dermod McCready, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fintan Doherty made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tierney McJon in the 46th minute of play. Sherlock Hunt hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dermod McCready was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dermod McCready in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fintan Doherty prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 53rd minute Harkin McLaughlin suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Dundalk FC made a substitution. Dinny McTom replaced Harkin McLaughlin. After a rather tough play, Coolmannan's Brendanus MaCollin got a free kick in the 55th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tierney McJon got free with Fintan Doherty in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A hard shot 59 in the game by Tierney McJon from a close distance when the talented Fintan Doherty managed to make a qualified save. Dundalk FC's players were relieved. Tierney McJon who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 65thth minute tested the skills of Fintan Doherty when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tierney McJon got free with Fintan Doherty in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tierney McJons short, quick shot in the 95thth minute got Fintan Doherty to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 96 minutes into the match, Dundalk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dermod McCready came free, but Fintan Doherty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Coolmannan had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
