An unexpectedly hard shot by Bradigan McJohn in the 6th minute of play forced Illanbaun Utd's goalkeeper Pat Harkin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brenna McNamara charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brenna McNamara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Brenna McNamara hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute Bradigan McJohn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pat Harkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ranaghy's Brendan McSteve quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Douglas McPeter, made in the 16th minute of the game. Pat Harkin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rorry Moran went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Pat Harkin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bradigan McJohn in the 34th minute of play. In the 46th match minute, Ranaghy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Payton McSteve to maneuver through the defense. The Illanbaun Utd players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ranaghy were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cleary Mulvihill was the one to do the kick off. After 51 minutes of play Ranaghy's Payton McSteve was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 52nd minute, Payton McSteve hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cleary Mulvihill scored 1-1 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iarla Colwell, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A throw-in in the 65th minute of the game was made by Louis McTom with Shiel Delaney as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 72 minutes into the game, Illanbaun Utd's John McFrancise nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iarla Colwell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. If Bradigan McJohn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. Illanbaun Utd's Dane Doyle quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Louis McTom, made in the 89th minute of the game. The Illanbaun Utd supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Ranaghy's performance. The match ended with a win for Ranaghy.
