Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Timmons Ghee kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tiarnan McLiam. That made the score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. Rowley Harkin struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Beiti Quinnless didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lavey. 20 minutes into the game, Lavey's Becan McSteven nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Beiti Quinnless made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Becan McSteven sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 37 minutes of play, Lavey's Rowley Harkin made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Beiti Quinnless was left in no man's land by his defense there! Bree Deery made in the 43rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Becan McSteven. The Derrymullen FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Lavey were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Boyd Walker to make the kick off. After 51 minutes, Fergal McWill mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lavey and the Derrymullen FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Timmons Ghee had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice moves Becan McSteven could shoot a difficult shot in the 55th minute, which Beiti Quinnless however easily saved by the left post. Tiarnan McLiam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boyd Walker in the 59th minute of play. After 64 played minutes Derrymullen FC got a freekick which was hit by Timmons Ghee. 71 minutes into the match, Lavey's goal looked a bit too open when Timmons Ghee came free, but Tiarnan McLiam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st match minute, Lavey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bowie Cooney to maneuver through the defense. Boyd Walker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rowley Harkin hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Beiti Quinnless came out of the goal and Becan McSteven tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tiarnan McLiam took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timmons Ghee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lavey's Tiarnan McLiam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boyd Walker in the 85th minute of play. Derrymullen FC's Beiti Quinnless played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rowley Harkin in the 91st minute of play. Derrymullen FC's Beiti Quinnless proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Derrymullen FC from getting a goal against them. The Derrymullen FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Lavey to win.
