The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bodibeve McWillie helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Strand booed when Independente F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bodibeve McWillie didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 6th minute Harley McPaul shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Jerzyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Beglan McBjarton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boyne McSteven having to interfere. Jan Jerzyk acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 11th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Donn Gillmour. Jan Jerzyk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tiarnan Taylor in the 12th minute. 12 minutes into the game, Davie Deery was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independente F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Strand the free kick. The supporters of Strand booed when Independente F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Davie Deery didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan Jerzyk made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Dane Deery sent off a good shot on target. In the 17th minute, Beglan McBjarton left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independente F.C fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Jan Jerzyk made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Dane Deery sent off a good shot on target. Strand's Boyne McSteven played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hewney McJohn in the 24th minute of play. Dane Deery could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Jan Jerzyk made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harley McPaul in the 32nd minute of play forced Independente F.C's goalkeeper Jan Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dane Deery came free with the goalkeeper in the 34th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jan Jerzyk could save by the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Davie Deery managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independente F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Davie Deery was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boyne McSteven breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Hewney McJohn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Harley McPaul made the kick off in the second half. Independente F.C's Beglan McBjarton got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 58th minute Beglan McBjarton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boyne McSteven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Strand's zone, Hewney McJohn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boyne McSteven came out of the goal and Hewney McJohn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 65th match minute, Independente F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex McAaron to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Strand's Donn Gillmour got a free kick in the 68th minute. Independente F.C's Jan Jerzyk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harley McPaul in the 72nd minute of play. A collision led to Strand getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Donelle Ryan hit a great ball. In the 77th match minute, Strand was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bracken Gillmour to maneuver through the defense. Hewney McJohns short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Boyne McSteven to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 87 minutes into the game, Hewney McJohn lined in a short shot 0-3 behind a frustrated Boyne McSteven. If Beglan McBjarton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hewney McJohn got free with Boyne McSteven in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Independente F.C played a much better game than Strand and deserved their victory. The Strand players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
