Jan Jerzyk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brefni Benson in the 7th minute of play. Hewney McJohn could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Charly Meulemans made a huge save. Brefni Benson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Jerzyk having to interfere. Javier Fe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Jan Jerzyk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Brefni Benson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jan Jerzyk. Independente F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brefni Benson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Brefni Benson struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Jan Jerzyk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shamrock Rovers. In the 39th minute, Brefni Benson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jan Jerzyk was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Beglan McBjarton was the one to do the kick off. Binean Dempsey made in the 52nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Hewney McJohn immediately put the ball in play. Doney McGlenn charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Doney McGlenn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Shamrock Rovers booed when Independente F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doney McGlenn didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Brefni Benson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Shamrock Rovers getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Bairee Rogers hit a great ball. In the 69th minute Beglan McBjarton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charly Meulemans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hewney McJohn in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Charly Meulemans prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jan Jerzyk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brefni Benson in the 72nd minute of play. Brefni Benson struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Jan Jerzyk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shamrock Rovers. Charly Meulemans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Beglan McBjarton in the 78th minute of the match. Shamrock Rovers's Charly Meulemans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beglan McBjarton in the 79th minute of play. Charly Meulemans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hewney McJohn in the 85th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hewney McJohn during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 87th match minute, Independente F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hewney McJohn to maneuver through the defense. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brefni Benson couldn't finish the play. Charly Meulemans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Beglan McBjarton, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Independente F.C's Jan Jerzyk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brefni Benson in the 96th minute of play. The Shamrock Rovers players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
