Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 4 minutes into the match, Cappavuse's goal looked a bit too open when Baodan Horgan came free, but Adriano Bonfigli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A.J. Wing received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Pat Rutherford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clongeen's Brine McCready got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Berthold Larnø hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Adriano Bonfigli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brine McCready, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute, Boyd Branson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 21 minutes into the match, Baodan Horgan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Adriano Bonfigli. Cappavuse's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Baodan Horgan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Brine McCready sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baodan Horgan in the 27th minute of play forced Cappavuse's goalkeeper Adriano Bonfigli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adriano Bonfigli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Boyd Branson in the 28th minute of the match. Adriano Bonfigli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Baodan Horgan's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. 31 minutes into the game, Ulrich-Jürgen Schwind lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Pat Rutherford. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Brine McCready managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clongeen's supporters rose to their feet, but Brine McCready was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adriano Bonfigli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Clongeen's zone, A.J. Wing stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pat Rutherford came out of the goal and A.J. Wing tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A.J. Wing could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Pat Rutherford made a huge save. 48 minutes into the match, Ulrich-Jürgen Schwind notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Clongeen's Pat Rutherford. Pat Rutherford was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Baodan Horgan made a kick off. When Donavon McBrandon fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clongeen's protests and gave Donavon McBrandon a yellow card for diving instead. After 54 played minutes Clongeen got a freekick which was hit by Donavon McBrandon. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boyd Branson in the 57th minute of play forced Cappavuse's goalkeeper Adriano Bonfigli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Cappavuse booed when Clongeen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conn Glen Crowe didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute, Cappavuse's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Brine McCready fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Adriano Bonfigli didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Baodan Horgan went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ulrich-Jürgen Schwind in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pat Rutherford saved Clongeen from getting behind. In the 85th minute, Ulrich-Jürgen Schwind hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baodan Horgan in the 91st minute of play forced Cappavuse's goalkeeper Adriano Bonfigli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adriano Bonfigli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baodan Horgan in the 97th minute of the match.
