Drumkeerin's Donall Dempsey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Drumkeerin from getting a goal against them. With his leg Donall Dempsey managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Curhownagh's Alfred McDecland fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Barhan Tierney fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Drumkeerin's protests and gave Barhan Tierney a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Drumkeerin getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Barhan Tierney hit a great ball. Sherlock McBrandon's late challenge caught a Curhownagh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sherlock McBrandon helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Drumkeerin getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Sherlock McBrandon hit a great ball. In the 24th minute of the match Rowen Branson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Donall Dempsey skillfully saved the ball. After 25th play minutes Gerard Colwell shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Berach Morrison and just under the crossbar into goal. Donall Dempsey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blathma McSteve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Gerard Colwell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfred McDecland could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Donall Dempsey made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brenan Myler in the 47th minute of play forced Drumkeerin's goalkeeper Donall Dempsey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfred McDecland stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 58 minutes, Gerard Colwell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Drumkeerin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerard Colwell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 61 minutes into the match, Blathma McSteve had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Donall Dempsey. Drumkeerin's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Blathma McSteve was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Blathma McSteve received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Donall Dempsey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blathma McSteve in the 67th minute of play forced Drumkeerin's goalkeeper Donall Dempsey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Berach Morrison took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerard Colwell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Drumkeerin's Donall Dempsey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blathma McSteve in the 74th minute of play. Gerard Colwell hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Drumkeerin's Sherlock McBrandon got his second yellow card of the match in the 77th minute. The referee ordered Sherlock McBrandon off the ground. Sherlock McBrandon kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Alfred McDecland managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curhownagh's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfred McDecland was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donall Dempsey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Drumkeerin booed when Curhownagh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfred McDecland didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donall Dempsey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blathma McSteve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the game, Curhownagh's Alfred McDecland nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Donall Dempsey made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1.
