Rathcool's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dermod Mulvihill was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Conor Ramsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 22 in the game by Finnigan Cooney from a close distance when the talented Colmcille Frankson managed to make a qualified save. Portleen FC's players were relieved. Colmcille Frankson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Finnigan Cooney in the 23rd minute. Aaden McJames hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Brennon McIan in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patrick Deans prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brennon McIan in the 30th minute of play forced Rathcool's goalkeeper Patrick Deans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Colmcille Frankson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harrigan Bayes, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Aubrey Glen Crowe hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Finnigan Cooney to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Finnigan Cooney in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Colmcille Frankson saved Portleen FC from getting behind. Harrigan Bayes kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Patrick Deans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Coileán McLiam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Conor Ramsey in the 63rd minute of play forced Rathcool's goalkeeper Patrick Deans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Rathcool's zone, Brennon McIan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Deans came out of the goal and Brennon McIan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 67th minute, Triain McWillie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 69 played minutes Portleen FC got a freekick which was hit by Brennon McIan. In the 76th minute, Harrigan Bayes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Colmcille Frankson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 79th minute, Dermod Mulvihill hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Rathcool getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Conn Barrett hit a great ball. Brennon McIan in the 88thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Patrick Deans, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
