In the 29thth minute of the game Balor Mullan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Feegavla's Muhsin Evcimen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Athy booed when Feegavla was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bert Haljasorg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Athy's Rowe Tierney managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hickey McSteve in the 37 minute of the game. Muhsin Evcimen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caolán Ferguson, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Balor Mullan in the 44th minute of play forced Feegavla's goalkeeper Muhsin Evcimen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brenden Barrett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bard Cronin in the 73rd minute of the match. 75 minutes into the game, one of Feegavla:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Muhsin Evcimen had in the 77thth minute some difficulties stopping Darrin McMichel's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 80th minute, Balor Mullan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 83rd minute Bard Cronin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brenden Barrett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Athy's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 88th minute of the game, when Darrin McMichel after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of Feegavla's goal. Darrin McMichel was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. Muhsin Evcimen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Balor Mullan in the 93rd minute of play.
