Torna Quinnless fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brenden Barrett having to interfere. 14 minutes into the match, Athy's goal looked a bit too open when Todd Coyle came free, but Brenden Barrett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the game, one of Athy:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 18th minute there was a penalty for Inverin. Donavin McGlynn stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Brenden Barrett. 0-2. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Balor Mullan took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Bar Martyn to make any attempt to save it. With 25 minutes on the clock, Banan Molloy commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 26th minute there was a penalty for Inverin. Donavin McGlynn stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Brenden Barrett. 1-3. Donavin McGlynn kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Darrin McMichel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Brenden Barrett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Torna Quinnless, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Inverin were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Athy's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Donavin McGlynn took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Athy's goalie and right to Bil Ryan. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Athy's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Brenden Barrett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Todd Coyle in the 43rd minute of play. Inverin's Torna Quinnless got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Athy players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Inverin were winning 1-3.

With a little luck, Athy's Brenden Barrett got control of the ball when Torna Quinnless tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Torna Quinnless got free with Brenden Barrett in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Athy's Bresal Murphy got a free kick in the 73rd minute. The supporters of Inverin booed when Athy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Darrin McMichel didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute Torna Quinnless shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brenden Barrett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Inverin's Healy McMichel got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Athy's Balor Mullan got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Inverin's Bar Martyn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Balor Mullan in the 86th minute of play. Bil Ryan kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Inverin were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
