The supporters of Athy booed when Cogran AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Beairtle Barrett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Beamard Martyn had several of the Athy's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 16 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Brenden Barrett as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 28th minute, Beamard Martyn reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Brenden Barrett. The goal made the score 4-0. The Cogran AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. If Balor Mullan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There was no doubt that Cogran AFC were the better team. Cogran AFC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
