After a rather tough play, Joker the Hunter's Blair McPhil got a free kick in the 5th minute. Tormaigh MaCollin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barhart Costello in the 7th minute of play. 8 minutes into the game, Leo Egas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Brigid Rutherford was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pearse McWilliam in the 14th minute of play forced Joker the Hunter's goalkeeper Tormaigh MaCollin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tormaigh MaCollin was a little too slow when Hewney Kirby got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 16th minute. The score was now 1-1. Joker the Hunter's Brin Delaney got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 29 played minutes Joker the Hunter got a freekick which was hit by Axel Broberg. Tormaigh MaCollin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hewney Kirby in the 30th minute of the match. St. James Gate F.C.'s Brigid Rutherford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brin Delaney in the 35th minute of play. Brin Delaney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brigid Rutherford having to interfere. After having played for 38 minutes, Brin Delaney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Joker the Hunter's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brin Delaney was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Blair McPhil's late challenge caught a St. James Gate F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Blair McPhil helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th match minute, Joker the Hunter was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blair McPhil to maneuver through the defense. St. James Gate F.C.'s Pearse McWilliam suffered a concussion after 41 minutes and had to leave the field. 41 minutes into the match, Joker the Hunter's goalkeeper Tormaigh MaCollin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pearse McWilliam. After 41 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Joker the Hunter! Tormaigh MaCollin had in the 45thth minute some difficulties stopping Tipper Savic's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Barnaby Bayes hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Brin Delaney stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the match, Sherlock Brennan notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Joker the Hunter's Tormaigh MaCollin. Tormaigh MaCollin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Bray Moran hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Brigid Rutherford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brin Delaney, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Joker the Hunter's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cahir Palmer in the 67th minute. Joker the Hunter's Cahir Palmer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Brigid Rutherford in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Joker the Hunter's Brin Delaney got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Sherlock Brennan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Brin Delaney got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 78th minute, Mauro-German Camoranesi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79th minute of the match Tipper Savic shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tormaigh MaCollin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Brigid Rutherford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brin Delaney in the 81st minute of the match. Tormaigh MaCollin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Burke Martyn in the 83rd minute of play. Bowie Caffrey scored 3-1 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tormaigh MaCollin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 89 minutes, Cahir Palmer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Joker the Hunter and the St. James Gate F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 89th match minute, Joker the Hunter was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cahir Palmer to maneuver through the defense.
