Alf Winterburn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Ronny Atherton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Joshua Neville had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 11 played minutes Fence Houses got a freekick which was hit by Sly Halford. Ronny Atherton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joshua Neville in the 11th minute of the match. In the 15th minute Justin Odell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Liam Bannister saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Alf Winterburn notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Fence Houses's Ronny Atherton. Ronny Atherton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 21st minute, Birmingham FC's Joshua Neville dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. The supporters of Birmingham FC booed when Fence Houses was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rupert Sercombe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rupert Sercombe's late challenge caught a Birmingham FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rupert Sercombe helped the player get up and apologised. In the 35th minute, Rupert Sercombe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Ronny Atherton successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 47 minutes into the match, Fence Houses's goalkeeper Ronny Atherton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alf Winterburn. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Richard Bridgewater stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sid Bradbury received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Ronny Atherton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Justin Odell got free with Liam Bannister in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ronny Atherton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joshua Neville went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. After having played for 77 minutes, Alf Winterburn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Birmingham FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alf Winterburn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard Bridgewater in the 79th minute of play forced Birmingham FC's goalkeeper Liam Bannister to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 85 minutes, Alf Winterburn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Birmingham FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alf Winterburn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
