The tension between the Sherborne and the Codicote players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Sherborne getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Richie Pitt hit a great ball. 6 minutes into the match, Rupert Boyd dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Keith Leeson, 1-0. Keith Leeson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Charles Richardson in the 9th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rupert Boyd in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Keith Leeson saved Sherborne from getting behind. In the 20th minute, Richard Boothroyd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tommy Welsh kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Keith Leeson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rupert Boyd in the 27th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rupert Boyd in the 28th minute of play forced Sherborne's goalkeeper Keith Leeson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tod Letheren in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brad Sawyer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Les Hylton during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Codicote's Les Hylton got a free kick in the 38th minute. Tod Letheren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rupert Boyd to make the kick off. If Tod Stobbs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the last second Brad Sawyer throw himself and got hold of the ball when Philip Garlick in the 56thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. When Charles Richardson came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Codicote fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Charles Richardson couldn't finish the play. Brad Sawyer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tod Letheren, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After 62 played minutes Codicote got a freekick which was hit by Richard Boothroyd. Charles Richardson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 68 minutes of play Sherborne's Richie Pitt was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Richie Pitt hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Keith Leeson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charles Richardson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute, Tommy Welsh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Tod Stobbs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Codicote getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Geoff Walton hit a great ball. In the 84th minute, Tommy Welsh sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Codicote's Brad Sawyer didn't even have to move. Tod Stobbs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, Codicote could leave the field as winners, despite Sherborne having more of the ball for most of the match.
