The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Shane Welch who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Keiran Bonds when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 5th minute Kenny Waltham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richie Dolby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Soho booed when Downham Market was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Piers Westlake didn't get a good kick on the ball. Reggie Hackney charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Reggie Hackney the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 16 played minutes Downham Market got a freekick which was hit by Reggie Hackney. 22 minutes into the game, Seth Watson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Soho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Downham Market the free kick. After 22 played minutes Soho got a freekick which was hit by Seth Watson. During the 24th minute of the match Seth Watson completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Seth Watson a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Seth Watson kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Soho's zone, Simon Foster stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Keiran Bonds came out of the goal and Simon Foster tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Soho fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! 36 minutes into the game, Niall Hicks cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Richie Dolby was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Downham Market booed when Soho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Howard Groom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niall Hicks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Richie Dolby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Simon Foster to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Downham Market's zone, Niall Hicks stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richie Dolby came out of the goal and Niall Hicks tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Simon Foster fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keiran Bonds having to interfere. Howard Groom kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Simon Foster got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Reggie Hackney hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Downham Market's goalkeeper Richie Dolby, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Richie Dolby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Howard Groom in the 69th minute of the match. A collision led to Downham Market getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Andre Reed hit a great ball. Richie Dolby was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Silvester Harrison. Keiran Bonds showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Foster in the 73rd minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, Soho's goal looked a bit too open when Simon Foster came free, but Keiran Bonds reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Soho's goalkeeper Keiran Bonds, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 81 minutes into the match, Downham Market's goalkeeper Richie Dolby had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Niall Hicks. Howard Groom could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Richie Dolby made a huge save. Niall Hicks scored 1-3 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Richie Dolby, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Downham Market booed when Soho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Howard Groom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Keiran Bonds didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Shane Welch went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Niall Hicks's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Richie Dolby read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. The Downham Market supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Soho's performance. The match ended with a win for Soho.
