To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wes Slatter charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wes Slatter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mick Hall struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Johnnie West didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Southwell FC. Trev Fairs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Mick Hall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

54 minutes into the match, Flushing's goalkeeper Johnnie West had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Trev Fairs. After a defensive mix-up in Flushing's zone, Mick Hall stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnnie West came out of the goal and Mick Hall tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 59th minute, Mick Hall got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Johnnie West made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trev Fairs in the 60th minute. Mick Hall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnnie West having to interfere. Trev Fairs's late challenge caught a Flushing's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Trev Fairs helped the player get up and apologised. In the 64th minute, Trev Fairs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dale Nash sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Huey Spink in the 70th minute of play forced Southwell FC's goalkeeper Austen Rusk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlton Barron took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 72nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Austen Rusk. Southwell FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Johnnie West showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mick Hall in the 81st minute of the match. In the 82nd minute, one of Flushing:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Flushing. When the match had been going on for 84 minutes, Southwell FC's Thom Millman got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Johnnie West. In the 86th minute, Dominic Kempson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 87 minutes, Johnnie West successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After having played for 93 minutes, Mick Hall managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Southwell FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mick Hall was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Southwell FC's zone, Huey Spink stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Austen Rusk came out of the goal and Huey Spink tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Flushing fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Southwell FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
