With a couple of smart ball manuevers Huey Beard in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Scott Howard saved Gainsborough from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Gainsborough's Austin Cousens got a free kick in the 22nd minute. A collision led to Gainsborough getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Sam Bayliff hit a great ball. Huey Beard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Scott Howard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Damion Gillow showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jo Gregory in the 33rd minute of the match. Scott Howard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trevor Horner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olly Charless short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Scott Howard to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 38 minutes into the match, Gainsborough's goalkeeper Scott Howard had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Olly Charles. After 40 minutes, Huey Beard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MeltBoyz and the Gainsborough players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

51 minutes into the match, Gainsborough's goal looked a bit too open when Olly Charles came free, but Scott Howard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute, MeltBoyz's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Richie Strongman fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Phillip Fleming kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. 60 minutes into the game, Tim Colman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gainsborough's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MeltBoyz the free kick. A collision led to Gainsborough getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Tim Colman hit a great ball. 64 minutes into the match, Gainsborough's goal looked a bit too open when Huey Beard came free, but Scott Howard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Sam Bayliff fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gainsborough's protests and gave Sam Bayliff a yellow card for diving instead. After 64 played minutes Gainsborough got a freekick which was hit by Sam Bayliff. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Olly Charles in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Scott Howard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Scott Howard made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olly Charles in the 80th minute of play. If Huey Beard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Crispin Willetts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of MeltBoyz booed when Gainsborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eddie White didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gainsborough's Scott Howard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olly Charles in the 93rd minute of play. In the 96th minute Huey Beard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Scott Howard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
