Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nicky Stewart kicked off to start the match. The audience was convinced that Tony Butterfield's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Barney Crowther was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. In the 13th minute Tony Butterfield shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Barney Crowther saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leo Symons didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pierre Holroyd went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 28th minute, John Woodward hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Culcheth's zone, Abraham Gold stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Barney Crowther came out of the goal and Abraham Gold tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicky Stewart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barney Crowther having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Culcheth's zone, Ivan Walker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Barney Crowther came out of the goal and Ivan Walker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Barney Crowther made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Jerry Anderson sent off a good shot on target. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Culcheth's goalkeeper Barney Crowther, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half Culcheth were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pierre Holroyd made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Tony Butterfield managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brumtown FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tony Butterfield was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barney Crowther breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nicky Stewart scored 1-1 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Barney Crowther, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Culcheth booed when Brumtown FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Walker didn't get a good kick on the ball. Garry Whitehead scored 1-2 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Leo Symons, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Barney Crowther stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tony Butterfield's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Abraham Gold struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Barney Crowther didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brumtown FC. In the 74th minute, Tony Butterfield ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Barney Crowther was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. David Swain hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Culcheth's zone, Jerry Anderson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Barney Crowther came out of the goal and Jerry Anderson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Abraham Gold received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Barney Crowther tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brumtown FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
