The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dion Gilchrist during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sammy Hislop to make the kick off. During the 58th minute of the match Max Kullgren completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sammy Hislop in the 88th minute of play forced Legionnaires's goalkeeper Robert Topham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th match minute, Legionnaires was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thom Senior to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Malone United's Sammy Hislop slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Robert Topham. That made the score 4-2 after 96 minutes of play. Legionnaires's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
