Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Denny Farmer took the kick off in the first half of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Ben Downton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Settle's supporters rose to their feet, but Ben Downton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Will Love breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 5th minute, Simon Senior left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Settle fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to Sheffield getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Denny Farmer hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denny Farmer in the 13th minute of play forced Settle's goalkeeper Phil Ashford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Will Love showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ben Downton, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After a rather tough play, Sheffield's Andy Walker got a free kick in the 17th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ben Downton in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Will Love prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jools Titmuss's late challenge caught a Settle's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jools Titmuss helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Settle booed when Sheffield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jools Titmuss didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute Denny Farmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phil Ashford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simon Senior's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Will Love read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After 32 minutes of play, Settle's Ben Downton made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Will Love was left in no man's land by his defense there! Denny Farmer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ben Downton to make the kick off. If Phil Preston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59th minute, Ben Downton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Stuart Fisher recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 65th minute, Settle's Phil Preston dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. Stuart Fisher took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 69th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Will Love. Sheffield's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Darryl Darko put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Phil Ashford. Denny Farmer took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Phil Ashford. Phil Ashford dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Ben Downton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Will Love tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ben Downton did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-4 to the left of a surprised Will Love 80 minutes into the match. Settle's Ben Downton suffered a torn muscle in his foot after 84 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Danny Barltrop charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Danny Barltrop the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Denis Monk shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Harvey Bridgeman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simon Senior struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Will Love didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Settle.
