Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Curtis Roberts started the match with the kick off. Donald Croyden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jake Jones, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Southam's Carl Cohens sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Donald Croyden narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Jake Jones had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donald Croyden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jake Jones in the 11th minute of play. Drew Palmer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Curtis Roberts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Curtis Roberts came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Bentworth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Curtis Roberts couldn't finish the play. Colin Holt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Palmer having to interfere. Southam's Drew Palmer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Southam from getting a goal against them. If Curtis Roberts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Drew Palmer made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Colin Holt sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Bentworth's zone, Steven Browne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donald Croyden came out of the goal and Steven Browne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Donald Croyden stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jake Jones's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. The supporters of Bentworth booed when Southam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kris Sears didn't get a good kick on the ball. Curtis Roberts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Palmer having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
Bentworth's Curtis Roberts got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Southam's Johnny Bzeu got a free kick in the 56th minute. Curtis Roberts struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Drew Palmer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bentworth. Colin Holt scored 1-0 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Drew Palmer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Curtis Roberts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Curtis Roberts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Palmer having to interfere. After some careless play in the Bentworth defense, Carl Cohens kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donald Croyden. The Bentworth fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donald Croyden should have stopped the shot. Drew Palmer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Colin Holt in the 87th minute of the match. Colin Holt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 93rd minute, Johnny Bzeu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
