Spectators: 6716 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1716, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Denny Briggs made the kick off which started today's match. In the 3rdth minute of the game Denny Briggs who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hoylake United's Ralf Howson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 12th minute, Antony Osmond reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ralf Howson. The goal made the score 1-0. Brendon Walls fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ralf Howson having to interfere. With a little luck, Hoylake United's Ralf Howson got control of the ball when Eddie Morris tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Denny Briggs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jay Welsh in the 28th minute of play forced Grays City's goalkeeper Frankie Lagdon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Hoylake United's Robbie Commons in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Grays City's goalie prevented a goal. Jay Welsh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Frankie Lagdon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 1-1 became the score in the 40th minute when Jay Welsh elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 45 minutes into the match, Grays City's goal looked a bit too open when Jay Welsh came free, but Frankie Lagdon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Hoylake United's zone, Denny Briggs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ralf Howson came out of the goal and Denny Briggs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Robbie Commons stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ralf Howson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Denny Briggs went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Ralf Howson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denny Briggs in the 62nd minute of the match. Ralf Howson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denny Briggs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brendon Walls fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ralf Howson having to interfere. Jay Welsh struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Frankie Lagdon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hoylake United. A hard shot 75 in the game by Jay Welsh from a close distance when the talented Frankie Lagdon managed to make a qualified save. Grays City's players were relieved. Denny Briggs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Denny Briggs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antony Osmond recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ralf Howson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brendon Walls in the 88th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brendon Walls in the 91st minute of play forced Hoylake United's goalkeeper Ralf Howson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Hoylake United players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Grays City.
