Lillington FC's Aaron Blythe was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jeff Margarson in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Ozzy Folan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodley's Jay Hassell got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 76 minutes into the match, Rodley's Jay Hassell sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cliff North narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 77th minute of the game. One of Lillington FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Rodley:s goal.
