Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Felix Knight started the match with the kick off. Keith Smikle struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Ricky Akins didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Knaresborough. An unexpected shot in the 9th minute by Keith Smikle got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ashley Clarke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Ricky Akins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Prescot defense, Keith Smikle kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricky Akins. The Prescot fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricky Akins should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Prescot's Ricky Akins got control of the ball when Keith Smikle tried to sneak it across the goal line. Knaresborough's Arif Buğra Şavat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Knight in the 18th minute of play. Keith Smikle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Ricky Akins made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ashley Clarke in the 23rd minute of play forced Prescot's goalkeeper Ricky Akins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Prescot booed when Knaresborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Casey Argent didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robert Broadhead recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Keith Smikle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Knaresborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Keith Smikle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricky Akins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Victor Drake fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Prescot's protests and gave Victor Drake a yellow card for diving instead. Victor Drake hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Ricky Akins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ashley Clarke in the 35th minute of the match. When Todd McBreen fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Knaresborough's protests and gave Todd McBreen a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Prescot booed when Knaresborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Todd McBreen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Prescot's Albert Downham couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 38th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Knaresborough. Ashley Clarke blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricky Akins having to make a save. 43 minutes into the match, Robert Broadhead had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arif Buğra Şavat. Knaresborough's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Robert Broadhead was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Arif Buğra Şavat showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Knight, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ashley Clarke was the one to do the kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Keith Smikle notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Prescot's Ricky Akins. Ricky Akins was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Felix Knight might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arif Buğra Şavat. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Knight ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Ashley Clarke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Knaresborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Ashley Clarke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ashley Clarke in the 73rd minute of play forced Prescot's goalkeeper Ricky Akins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute Felix Knight shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arif Buğra Şavat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 78 minutes of play, Knaresborough's Ashley Clarke made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricky Akins was left in no man's land by his defense there! Arif Buğra Şavat showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Knight, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Ricky Akins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ashley Clarke in the 83rd minute of play. Ashley Clarke might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ricky Akins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ashley Clarke ran back to his position shaking his head. In a very dangerous position, a player in Prescot fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 86th minute. Penalty! Prescot's Ricky Akins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Keith Smikle in the 95th minute of play. 98 minutes into the match, Keith Smikle had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ricky Akins. Prescot's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Keith Smikle was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-1. Knaresborough's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
