Sean Oatway was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 4th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Brad Bland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Bob Watkinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Brad Bland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bob Watkinson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Seth Harban in the 11th minute of play. Leek United's Bob Watkinson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Seth Harban in the 17th minute of play. Bob Watkinson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Seth Harban, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 20th minute Brad Bland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bob Watkinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 30 minutes, Quentin Bale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Leek United and the Diss United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 35thth minute of the game Seth Harban who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Leek United's Bob Watkinson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brad Bland in the 38th minute of play forced Leek United's goalkeeper Bob Watkinson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luke Byfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zackary Corrigan having to interfere. Dennis Bradfield struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Zackary Corrigan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leek United. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The audience was convinced that Seth Harban's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bob Watkinson was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. The Leek United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Diss United were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
