The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 minutes, Sean Sandell mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the LEYTON ORYENT and the Leek City players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Leek City booed when LEYTON ORYENT was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sean Sandell didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 5th minute, Bradley Middlewood hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Leek City's goalkeeper Jari Henriksson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 8th minute Jason Chegwyn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jari Henriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th match minute, Leek City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wes McGovern to maneuver through the defense. Wes McGovern in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Lennie Sheridan, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. LEYTON ORYENT's Lennie Sheridan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zack Hatcher in the 19th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Leek City's goal looked a bit too open when Jason Chegwyn came free, but Jari Henriksson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 34 minutes into the game, Benji Rider was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Leek City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave LEYTON ORYENT the free kick. A collision led to Leek City getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Benji Rider hit a great ball. Jari Henriksson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Morgan, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. If Jason Chegwyn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zack Hatcher in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lennie Sheridan saved LEYTON ORYENT from getting behind. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jason Chegwyn to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Leek City got a freekick which was hit by Vance Greenwood. Jari Henriksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jason Chegwyn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wes McGovern scored 2-0 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lennie Sheridan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zack Hatcher in the 67th minute of play forced LEYTON ORYENT's goalkeeper Lennie Sheridan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. LEYTON ORYENT's Lennie Sheridan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zack Hatcher in the 69th minute of play. In the 72nd minute, Wes McGovern ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lennie Sheridan was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. 79 minutes into the game, Vance Greenwood was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Leek City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave LEYTON ORYENT the free kick. Vance Greenwood kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Zack Hatcher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 86 played minutes LEYTON ORYENT got a freekick which was hit by Sean Sandell. For all the effort they put into the match, the LEYTON ORYENT players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Leek City.
